ENTIRE DESIGN COMMITTEE MEETING FEB.10
Things that need to get hashed out:
- the overall umbrella concept,
- the look/feel of this concept and
- how that will be articulated through the various sub-committees.

Accessability
For some reason it won't let me comment on your post...
So, are you suggesting that we have all of our descriptions imprinted in brail as well?
Any idea on where we can have that done or the cost on that?
In case anyone was interested or needed, there is a good link to the braille alphabet.
I will add a link

GUEST LIST
I really really REALLY need to know who it is that you want to invite, in order to make a master list.
I also need to make a sponsor list, so everyone tell me the sponsors that you might be needing.
I will need the name of the company/organization as well as a personal contact from that company.
Please feel free to contact people( as in sponsors and industry professionals) yourselves, but let me know who they are. Just so that I can put it on the master list.
We will be printing out invitations for the professionals, so let me know if you want invitations, how many you want, and how specific you want them to be.
I would like to know all of this by the end of reading week, so when school begins I can start printing and mailing. So don't forget, and try sending it to me sooner rather than later. Remember, these could be your future employees, so get on it!

Update, Update, Read All About It! (think Newsboy) WK 5
1. Pay UP
Please remember to give your committee team lead $100 by Thursday, Feb 5th. If you have dire circumstances (aka $2 in your account), please speak to Heidi for financial planning.
2. Fundraising Sign-Ups
Sign up for the Feb 23-25 Fundraisers.
Monday, Feb 23 - Arcade Day1
Tuesday, Feb 24 - Arcade Day2
Wednesday, Feb 25 - Bake Sale
Every event (Arcade/Bake Sale) you participate in deducts $20 from your contribution and you'll be refunded the difference at the end of the semester.
3. Head Meeting
The February Head Meetings are as scheduled:
Thursday, Feb 5 - Room 284 (across hall from Auditorium's balcony seating)
Thursday, Feb 12 - Room 284
Thursday, Feb 26 - Room 627
4. Our First Sponsor...
We've been very lucky and the SU has granted us $1800 towards the production of our ID09 Grad Book. Yay!
5. Impressive
So, we're doing awesome and are WAY ahead of the other departments. The first Faculty of Design Committee Meeting was yesterday and I think we can really work with the committee to make our show work, set some precedents and set a pace that will allow things to work in our favor if we're prepared. So keep at it! Great work everyone!

Whats in a name
If you missed the name vote today and haven't heard yet, what was voted on and chosen as the name was:
"I Need To See Some ID"
Now that we have a name it really feels like we're off and running, so good luck to everyone and lets really turn this out and make it a great show.

Is there a proper way to invite guests from the Ministry of Research and Innovation?
Check out this link about the Digital Futures Initiative. I think they could be a stakeholder in our exhibit.. They would be interested in our work.
Maybe they could get an online/PDF or a book of our show, not sure what ocad administration that takes, but it would be cool to network with them

Holocaust museums, amazing stories can be told.
Everything into context- might see where our things live
Sketch bubbles, makes you want to read it.

Think outside of the box, push the boundaries a little bit
Almost like a maze idea… once you get in, you have to visit all the rooms

Wayfinding as visual clues, passport, more out of it, an interactive game of wayfinding
Fork in the road, Iris’ visual clues towards separation
Using the windows could help as well

Interactive wayfinding
His question is; define what it is we want to achieve through the use of these spaces
Here there is a principal that I would like to have come through my idea
There are no wild ideas (critique)
What are the metaphors or experiences that we want to emulate?
Is this an exhibit for a child? Or a museum?
How do we make this a story about ‘us’ rather than about ‘me’.
Think about how we want to make the bait
Bring people into the blockbuster to blockbuster kind of thing, how do we or do we even try to humanize the projects
Making sure that everything is dynamic and enticing
The interaction between public and private
Lack of established colour guide
Lighting is going to be key
Curiosity about the person/project.
We should think of Scale as well
The story of the process is important (from rough to polished?)
Think about vertical space
We need to figure out how much space we really need? Layout is primary!
Come see me, then check out my buddies project…
Zoo metaphor, flow and show

Maybe make is so that it’s a “please touch” kind of thing

MANAGER MEETING JAN 29 @ 3:00 Rm 670
Laura
GRAD SHOW NAMES
The names that will be voted on at 11:30am on Tuesday the 3rd of February are as follows:
"unbound-ID"
"Re-ID 09"
"Design is not a five letter word"
"There is no ' i ' in Design"
If you do not like any of these then when we vote for the name you can suggest alternatives if you are there at that meeting, not before or after, and they will be included within the vote. Each person only gets one vote and it will be an in person vote so at the end of that meeting on Tuesday we will have a name.
See you there.
